Bill O'Brian Amazon Mk1 Channel Rover 8 metre - Details

A classic cat from the 1970's in need of restoration and tlc. Now at a much reduced price, offers will be seriously considered by the elderly owners of this historic yacht.

From the famous catamaran builder Bill O'Brian, the Amazon Mk1 Ketch version of the Channel Rover 8 meter superseded and has better performance than the Bobcat 8 meter.

Great single handed performance with its ketch rig.

Built using GRP/ply sandwich construction she has great strength yet light weight.

Exceptional accommodation with two double berths and spacious saloon over the bridge deck, galley in the starboard hull and heads with shower in the port hull.

Additional Info:

Unusually fitted with two different engines both with shaft drive, as a result of replacements at different times. Never the less, with similar torque curves, the engines give similar performance, are reliable and economical in use.
One is a Vetus 16 hp, the other is a Beta 20 hp. These engines replaced the original Yanmar 8HP engines which were underpowered in bad weather.
The Beta drives a 14in x 12in prop and the Vetus, a 14in x 10in.
The owner has found she gives comfortable easy economical cruising at 6 knots using the Beta and brings in the Vetus to run home against wind and tide.

Unfortunately she is not fitted with a holding tank, but there is ample space available to have one fitted. She currently has a chemical toilet.
