Keyhaven Yawl - Details

A gaff cutter with bowsprit, bumpkin and tan sails, designed by Laurent Giles and built by Dr. John Jago. A backbone of English Oak, Mahogany stringers, Marine ply skin and deck, sheathed when built in Cascover.

With a one metre shoal draft, 5000 lbs of cast iron keel and a lifting centerboard increasing the draft to two metres she has great flexibility and makes a good sea boat. Her Gaff Cutter Yawl rig with bowsprit and bumpkin also gives great flexibility for all conditions with the advantage of beautiful tan sails.

The reliable fresh water cooled Volvo 2003 3 cylinder 28HP diesel engine was rebuilt by a Volvo approved dealer at 400 hours after a heavy trawl warp fouled the propeller and caused damage. It has since run 900 hours with no problems.
