Free Liveaboard Magazine scheduled to launch in early 2011

Today I got chatting to David McCaffrey who initially called about a boat we have listed. He is launching a free magazine early next year which sounds very interesting. Here's a few words from him about it:

Batten down the hatches; Companionway is a brand new magazine for liveaboards and anyone interested in life on the water. We champion quirks and fun, covering compelling stories and articles about anything nautical relating to: boats, projects, races, personalites, recepies, navigation and history etc.

Our aim is to give voice to boaties of all kinds, and so we sound the invitation for your contributions. If you are interested in spinning a yarn, or sharing some photos, please email us with your ideas:

companionway@gmx.co.uk

So, we're launching in Spring 2011, and the question on everyone's lips is: will Companionway sink or stay afloat? Well, it’s up to you, so take the helm, and steady as she goes...

Lets see if we can persuade David to write a blog for us instead. That sample magazine cover looked tantalising!

How time goes by! Companionway didn't make the launch because of a lack of interest/sponsorship. That said, if enough people ask, then we will have to get this up and running, won't we. But until then, I currently have a yacht restoration and a novel I'm working on. Plus I hope to get some more sailing done this year! Please do send us any comments or ideas.

What happened about this magazine, by the way?
